Committee

Committee

Craig Harris

President

I was an age group parent helper and key official, I was approached be a previous committee member to take on the role as arena manager. I decided to run for president a few years ago as I felt I was able to help the club grow and I really enjoy the family fun environment we have at our little club. Best piece of advice for members? To the athletes it is a great time to work on your fitness while having fun and making some special moments with your age group. You never know you may make some friendships which last for several years To the parents I find the best part of Athletics is being able to get out on site and help with your child’s age group as these are special moments for them which they will treasure for years to come.

Samantha Bowyer

Treasurer

1. Any background about yourself that you’re willing to share? My name is Sam and I have been the treasurer for 5 years now. Apart from dealing with all the ‘money’ side of things, I also make sure that the club ticks all the boxes so our end of year audit runs smoothly. When I am not at athletics or dealing with athletics stuff, I work in finance, but I promise I am not boring!! I love the summer months and being outside as much as possible 2. Why did you join the committee? I became involved in the EHLAC committee because nobody ever puts their hand up for the treasure position! Jokes aside, I like to be involved in the decision making of the club and to help do everything in my power to see the club go from strength to strength. 3. What is your favourite memory at EHLAC? t is so difficult to choose one favourite memory at EHLAC because there have been so many….watching my own child improve year on year, the older athletes taking the younger ones under their wings, seeing our little club do so well at Zones and States competitions against much larger clubs, Christmas relay races and the most awesome end of season fun days!! 4. Best piece of advice for members. The best piece of advice I can give to members is get out there and get involved. Your kids love having your support and help as they work through their events, and I can promise you that along the way you will meet lots of lovely families and build lasting friendships. 5. A skill or talent that most people won’t know about. I don’t really have a great skill or talent, but I am born on the 29th February making me a leap year baby and that’s not something many people can say about themselves.

Kristina Carver

Training and Coach Coordinator

I was an age group helper for the first 2 years and then stepped up and joined the committee to help with grants . 2 years ago I could see that the club would benefit from a more structured approach to training so I stepped in and became been Al training coordinator . My kids love the competitive side of athletics and have learnt the value of personal bests and working hard . My advice to new athletes is make friends with your age group and try hard at training as you will reap the rewards in your personal best times . Mother of 3 kids and business owner, time is very tight but I am passionate about helping with sports my kids are involved in. My advice to parents is get involved , help where you can because every parent helper is an asset to the kids.

We started at EHLAC a few years ago, with all of my children having a go. We joined up after some encouragement and hearing about Little Athletics from another family at school. As someone who completed in Athletics during my school years I was excited to see if my kids would love it as much as me, and they do! We enjoy the different programs and the kids like having the opportunity to try all of the events, always aiming for a new PB. We have had the privilege of representing our club at the state relays for a few years and also the WA Athletics State Championships, which is something that we look forward to each year. If you are wondering if little athletics is for your family, come down to the oval on a Wednesday afternoon for training or a Saturday morning for competition and see for yourself how awesome it is!
